I have the pleasure of presenting the first selection of works produced entirely in South America for the online queer film festival “BEDDED” by AORTA films. A unique opportunity to watch works produced in the South from the comfort of your home or wherever you have a screen and internet access! To this end, I have selected 3 short films from filmmakers whose work I admire for their ability to excite and simultaneously blow our minds, demonstrating a personal, situated, and committed approach in each of their creations. Filmmakers whose work would not exist without the communities they are part of, and who show us that making porn is an exercise where we often owe ourselves to those who inspire and accompany us on the journey as accomplices, conspirators, and pornographers on the road.

“Uma paciência selvagem me trouxe até aqui” (A wild patience brought me here), the first of this selection by Brazilian queer filmmaker Éri Sarmet, shows us the power that explicit cinema has to entangle us in transgenerational stories, where the memory of those who allow us to be together, love, care, and fuck today is honored, connecting the past and present of lesbian sexualities. “Xnoternura” (Pornotenderness), the second film by independent Argentine gay porn filmmaker Julian Merlo, invites us to immerse ourselves in the intimacy of an encounter between two men who, while fucking, debate about politics, stigma, health, and certainly their tastes and preferences, showing how sex is also an encounter between affective worlds. And finally, “Hambre” (Hunger), by Chilean sexual dissidence archivist and videomaker Andrés Valenzuela, offers an intimate account of the life of Melisa Nina, playing with three documentary layers simultaneously: the voice and story of its protagonist as a performer, dancer, and migrant sex worker; her desires represented in a photo shoot; and the record of all of the above through a carefully crafted piece to whet our appetite.

“Foder”, “garchar” y “culiar” are 3 vulgar verbs respectively used in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile to refer to “having sex.” In various combinations and forms, the works selected for the 9th edition of BEDDED demonstrate how these verbs are conjugated with images, but also with multiple stories and desires. “Foder” with images, “garchar” with stories, and “culiar” with desires, showing the power that pornographic language has to immerse us in exciting and unique worlds.

This showcase is a bridge to the South, to watch porn that you will hardly find through other channels. In a world where sometimes spaces seem to narrow to collectively enjoy in front of the screen, insisting, demanding, and enjoying virtual refuges like this one is a revolutionary act. This is the first part of a selection of shorts that will continue in December and that opens for the first time a window to contemporary explicit cinema produced in South America. Don’t miss it!

Tengo el placer de presentar la primera selección de obras producidas íntegramente en Sudamérica para el festival de cine online “BEDDED” de AORTA films. ¡Una oportunidad única para visionar obras producidas en el sur desde la comodidad de tu casa o donde sea que tengas una pantalla y conexión a internet! Para ello, he seleccionado 3 cortometrajes de realizadorxs cuyo trabajo admiro por su capacidad de excitarnos y a la vez follarnos la cabeza, demostrando un sello personal, situado y comprometido en cada una de sus creaciones. Realizadores cuyo trabajo no existiría sin las comunidades de las que forman parte y que nos demuestran que hacer porno es un ejercicio en que muchas veces nos debemos a quienes nos inspiran y nos acompañan en el camino como cómplices, conspiradorxs y pornógrafxs de ruta.

“Una paciencia salvaje me trajo hasta aquí”, de le realizadore queer brasileñe Éri Sarmet, nos muestra la potencia que tiene el cine explícito para enredarnos en relatos transgeneracionales, donde se honra la memoria de quienes nos permiten hoy estar juntes, amar, cuidar y follar, conectando el ayer y el hoy de las sexualidades lésbicas. “Pornoternura”, del realizador independiente de porno gay argentino Julian Merlo, nos invita a sumergirnos en la intimidad de un encuentro entre dos chicos que, mientras follan, debaten sobre política, estigma, salud y por cierto sus gustos y preferencias, mostrando cómo el sexo es también un encuentro entre mundos afectivos. “Hambre”, del archivista y videasta de disidencia sexual chileno Andrés Valenzuela, ofrece un relato íntimo sobre la vida de Melisa Nina, jugando con tres capas documentales simultáneamente: la voz e historia de su protagonista como performer, bailarina y trabajadora sexual migrante; sus deseos representados en una sesión fotográfica; y el registro de todo lo anterior a través de una pieza única cocinada cuidadosamente para abrir nuestro apetito.

“Foder, garchar y culiar” son 3 verbos vulgares que se usan respectivamente en Brasil, Argentina y Chile para referirse a “tener sexo”. En diversas combinaciones y formas, las obras seleccionadas para la IX edición de BEDDED demuestran cómo estos verbos se conjugan con imágenes, pero también con historias y deseos múltiples. “Foder” con imágenes, “garchar” con historias y “culiar” con deseos, mostrando la potencia que tiene el lenguaje pornográfico para sumergirnos en mundos apasionantes y singulares.

Esta muestra es un puente hacia el sur, para visionar porno que difícilmente encontrarás por otras vías. En un mundo donde a veces parecieran estrecharse los espacios para encontrarnos colectivamente a gozar frente a la pantalla, insistir, reclamar y gozar de refugios virtuales como este, es un acto revolucionario. Esta es la primera parte de una selección de cortos que continuará en diciembre y que abre por primera vez una ventana al cine explícito contemporáneo producido en Sudamérica. ¡No te lo pierdas!

Julian Merlo (Argentina)

Julian Merlo is an audiovisual artist from the southern region of Buenos Aires, Argentina. In recent years, he has been conducting research in the pornographic genre and currently operates his subscription-based platform, where he delves into industrial pornography, as well as explorations in pornography through other audiovisual genres.

Éri Sarmet (Brazil)

Éri Sarmet is a non-binary Brazilian writer and director born in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro. Sarmet has written and directed three short films: “Latifúndio” (2017), “A Wild Patience Has Taken Me Here” (2021), and “Vollúpya” (2024). Officially selected in over 70 film festivals, “A Wild Patience” has won 21 awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival. They are the founder of Excesso Filmes and a Ph.D. candidate at the University of São Paulo (USP).

Andrés Valenzuela (Chile)

Andrés Valenzuela Arellano is a videographer, editor, and creator of the web archive registrocontracultural.cl. He is a cameraman and video producer of artistic expressions within the Chilean transfeminist scene and sexual dissidence activism.
